The MTN Ghana Foundation has awarded scholarships to 500 brilliant but needy students pursuing tertiary education across Ghana, reaffirming its commitment to promoting education and creating opportunities for young people to achieve their academic ambitions.

The scholarship initiative, implemented with support from the MTN Ghana Foundation, is designed to provide financial assistance to academically talented students who face economic challenges that could prevent them from completing their education.

Under the scheme, beneficiaries will receive comprehensive support packages, including full tuition fee coverage, accommodation assistance, and laptops to facilitate their studies, research and access to digital learning resources.

The students will also receive semester stipends to help meet their day-to-day expenses and reduce the financial pressure associated with tertiary education.

The support is expected to enable beneficiaries to concentrate on their academic work without being unduly distracted by financial difficulties.

Speaking in an interview with the media, Managing Director of the MTN Foundation, Mr. Robert Kuzoe, underscored the importance of the scholarship programme in supporting students to overcome financial barriers and pursue their educational goals.

Mr. Kuzoe expressed optimism that the assistance would empower the beneficiaries to make the most of their academic opportunities and develop the knowledge and skills needed to contribute meaningfully to society.

He further emphasised that the Foundation remains committed to investing in education, describing it as a critical driver of national development adding that the initiative reflects the importance of supporting young people whose talents and academic potential could make a positive difference in their communities and the country at large.

The scholarship programme is expected to ease the financial burden on the selected students and their families while promoting access to quality tertiary education.

By providing support beyond tuition fees, the initiative also seeks to address some of the practical challenges students encounter throughout their academic journey.

Through the scholarship scheme, the MTN Ghana Foundation continues to demonstrate its commitment to educational development and youth empowerment in Ghana.

The support extended to the 500 beneficiaries is expected to help them pursue their studies with greater confidence and prepare them to become responsible, skilled, and impactful individuals who will contribute to the nation’s future.

On her part, Prof.Dr. Daniella Delali Sedegah (PhD), a member of the selection jury, explained the criteria used in selecting qualified students for the awards.

She said the process was transparent and merit-based, ensuring that only deserving applicants were chosen.

She also encouraged the awardees to make good use of the opportunity by studying hard and avoiding any activities that could tarnish their reputation and lead to the withdrawal of the scholarship.

Some of the beneficiaries who shared their experiences expressed profound joy and gratitude for the opportunity.

They recounted the financial difficulties they faced before receiving the scholarship and described the support as life-changing.

The beneficiaries promised to study diligently and make the most of the opportunity to justify the confidence reposed in them.
