One, Mr Alex Appiah Yego is reportedly untraceable following allegations that he and his wife assaulted and threatened a 16-year-old boy who visited their daughter at Appolonia.
According to the boy’s family, the case has been reported to the Katamanso Police Station in the Kpone Katamanso Municipality. The family said the woman was detained on Friday, October 30, and released on Saturday, October 31, 2026.
The circumstances of her release and the claim concerning Mr Appiah Yego’s whereabouts have not been independently confirmed.
The boy’s father said the incident occurred on Thursday, October 29, when his son visited a female classmate, also aged 16, after receiving an invitation from her.
He said his son had saved GH¢80 towards a birthday present for the girl, which he supplemented with GH¢100.
According to the father, the teenagers watched cartoons at the girl’s residence while her parents were away. About two hours later, as his son prepared to leave, the girl’s mother arrived and confronted him.
The woman allegedly slapped the boy repeatedly, pushed him to the floor and locked the door before calling her husband.
The father alleged that his son and the girl were confined in a room for close to two hours while they waited for Mr Appiah Yego to return.
Upon arriving, Mr Appiah Yego who is said to be a clearing agent at the Tema Port, allegedly punched the boy and beat him with a belt and a stick for several hours. He also allegedly threatened to kill him and instructed his wife to bring a knife, although no knife was reportedly brought.
The father further alleged that upon the account of his son, the boy was pelted with stones as he fled the compound after being help up for close to three hours, and that his mobile phone was also seized in the process but was later recovered by the Police a day after the incident.
He said his son sustained visible bruises and other injuries and remained traumatised by the experience.
“my son remains traumatized since the incident on Thursday and is unable to eat. He complains of dizziness and pains in the rib. Although we’ve been to the hospital for preliminary medical treatment, he still complains of severe pains”.
The family is calling for a thorough police investigation and support from the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, the Department of Social Welfare and other child protection institutions.
“I am a father seeking justice, not revenge. I want accountability, a thorough investigation and the protection of my child,” the father said.
“Child safety is not optional. Whether in Ghana, the United States, or anywhere, every child deserves protection. I am calling on the Ghana Police Service, the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, and all child protection institutions to investigate and protect not only my son but every single child being abused. Let us stand for our children’s safety and not remain silent”
The wife of Mr Alex Appiah Yego who begun the whole attack, confirmed having subjected the teenager to beatings and therefore regrets her actions.
Meanwhile her husband Mr Alex AppiahYego,is yet to be apprehended by the Katamanso Police as his whereabout is currently unknown.
