The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has assured Ghanaians that the power crisis the country is facing in recent times will soon be over.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia told Clergy and Imams in Akropong during his Eastern Region campaign tour that he has had a piece of first-hand information about the worrying situation from the sector minister and is very optimistic the problem will be resolved.
“I know there are challenges and I don’t want to paper over economic challenges. We are going to work on them. Currently, we have power issues but I say that from the information I have received from the minister for energy, those power challenges will very soon, and I mean very soon be a thing of the past,” He assured.
The power crisis has been a major hit to the Nana Addo-led government as many believe the situation if not solved will dent the NPP's chances of breaking the 8 in the upcoming general election.
Ghanaians are, however, calling for a Dumsor timetable but the sector minister is yet to issue that.
