Absa is proud to announce its continued recognition as a Top Employer by the prestigious Top Employer Institute for the third consecutive year, across five markets - including Ghana, Zambia, Botswana, Kenya, and South Africa. This certification confirms the bank’s commitment to creating an aspirational workplace as well as maintaining exemplary people practices and initiatives that consistently meet and exceed rigorous global benchmarks.

This recognition also highlights Absa's dedication to providing a human-centered work environment, nurturing talent at all levels, continually optimising the employee experiences, and delivering people practices that set the standard for the industry.

The Top Employer certification covers best practices in six HR domains consisting of 20 topics including People Strategy, Work Environment, Talent Acquisition, Learning, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Wellbeing, and more.

Commenting on the awards, William Easmon, Absa Bank Ghana LTD People & Culture Director, noted: "We are incredibly honoured to be certified and recognised as a top employer once again. This achievement reaffirms Absa's position as a leading employer of choice and most importantly, our commitment to building an organisation that prioritises colleague wellbeing, fosters talent growth and drives performance excellence.”

“We are committed to people, we live excellence, inclusion, stewardship and we continue to build an aspirational workplace,” he added.

In a statement confirming the award, Top Employers Institute CEO, David Plink said: “Exceptional times bring out the best in people and organisations. And we have witnessed this in our Top Employers Certification Programme this year: exceptional performance from the certified Top Employers 2024. These employers have always shown that they care for the development and well-being of their people. By doing so, they collectively enrich the world of work. We are proud to announce and celebrate this year’s group of leading people-oriented employers: the Top Employers 2024.”

Being certified as a Top Employer showcases an organisation’s dedication to a better world of work, which is exhibited through excellent HR policies and people practices.

In 2023, Absa was rated top among “the 25 best workplaces to grow your career” in an annual survey by LinkedIn, the world's largest professional network with more than 900 million members. Absa was also recognised in the fourth edition of Forbes’s World’s Best Employers ranking in the same year.

Lastly, at Supreme Healthcare Management Services’ Authentic & Caring Employer (ACE) Awards, Absa Bank Ghana picked up the highest award of the day - Overall Best: Authentic & Caring Employer of the Year, and three others - ACE Organisation of the Year for Financial Services, Employee Well-being of the Year and Most Innovative HR Practical Organisation of the Year.

As a purpose-led organisation, Absa remains committed to excellence, fostering diversity and inclusion, and empowering its workforce to shape a brighter future for Africa, one story at a time.
