Former Vice President and NPP presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has held high-level talks with the Secretary-General of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), Dr. Mark Speich, in Accra on Thursday, October 29.

KAS is one of Germany’s leading political foundations and is internationally affiliated with the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Dr. Bawumia’s engagement with them centered on developments in Ghana’s political landscape and efforts being made to reorganize the New Patriotic Party.

The NPP leader used the occasion to reiterate his resolve to rebuild the NPP, disclosing that, over the last two years, deliberate steps have been taken to reinforce the party’s internal structures to make it more responsive to the concerns of ordinary Ghanaians.

He further updated KAS on the progress of two flagship projects of the party mentioning the Patriotic Institute and the Policy Unit.

Describing both initiatives as “close to his heart”, Dr. Bawumia said they are designed to groom future political leadership, open up avenues for youth participation in public service, and guarantee that NPP policies are grounded in evidence, financially sound and practicable.

He indicated that the ultimate objective is to transform the NPP into a “more inclusive, intellectually vibrant and policy-oriented party with the capacity to drive Ghana’s sustainable development”.

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, which is linked to Germany’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU), has for years worked closely with the NPP, supporting programmes in democratic governance, institutional strengthening and policy development.

Thursday’s meeting is part of broader consultations Dr. Bawumia is holding with international partners and local stakeholders as part of the NPP’s reorganization drive ahead of the 2028 polls.
