New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong has dismissed rumours of a possible change in the party’s parliamentary leadership, expressing satisfaction with the work of Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin.
Kodua said the party was happy with Afenyo-Markin’s performance and indicated that no meeting had been scheduled to discuss changes to the leadership of the NPP Minority Caucus in Parliament.
“We are very happy with the work of Afenyo-Markin. There is no meeting to change the leadership of the mighty Minority in Parliament,” he said during a press conference today, Thursday, October 29
His comments come amid speculation about a possible reshuffle of the NPP’s parliamentary leadership, with questions emerging over whether the party intends to make changes to its current leadership team.
However, Kodua’s remarks seek to dismiss the rumours and reaffirm the party’s satisfaction with Afenyo-Markin’s role as Minority Leader.
Afenyo-Markin leads the NPP Minority Caucus in Parliament, which holds the responsibility of scrutinising government policies, challenging the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and presenting alternative positions on national issues.
The NPP’s parliamentary leadership remains a key part of the party’s strategy as it seeks to strengthen its position in Parliament and hold the government accountable.
