The Member of Parliament for Bawku Central, Mahama Ayariga, will officially take on the role of Majority Leader in Parliament today, 23rd January, following the appointment of Dr Cassiel Ato Forson as the Minister for Finance.

Dr Ato Forson's elevation to the Finance Ministry left a vacancy in the parliamentary leadership of the Majority Caucus, creating an opportunity for Ayariga to step into the position.

Recognised for his legal acumen and extensive experience in parliamentary affairs, Ayariga is anticipated to bring a dynamic and pragmatic approach to his new leadership role.

Over the years, Ayariga has distinguished himself as a staunch advocate for his constituents and a prominent voice in legislative debates.

His leadership is expected to prioritise unity within the Majority Caucus while effectively steering the government’s legislative agenda.

This reshuffle also signals other notable changes to the Majority front bench. Governs Kwame Agbodza, who previously held the position of Majority Chief Whip, has been nominated as the Minister for Roads and Highways.

His transition to the executive has created another opportunity for leadership realignment within the Caucus.

In addition, Cape Coast South MP Kweku Ricketts-Hagan is set to assume the role of Deputy Majority Leader.

He will succeed Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who has been appointed as the Minister-designate for Lands and Natural Resources.
