Counsellor Lutterodt released after police detention

<p>Marriage counsellor, George Lutterodt, has been released after being detained by the Ghana Police Service for questioning over allegations of inciting violence. </p><p>The report indicated that the counsellor had been taken into custody for engaging in conduct deemed capable of causing unrest in the community.</p><p>According to authorities, Lutterodt’s actions were considered likely to disturb public peace.</p><p>In a video shared following his release, Counsellor Lutterodt explained that he had been handcuffed because the police required a photograph of him in custody.</p><p>“They told me they needed a picture, so they took a picture of me in handcuffs,” he said.</p><p>He recounted what he did immediately after leaving the detention centre, emphasising his relief and gratitude.</p><p>“When I left the detention centre, I came first to church, I walked to the altar to tell God thank you that my arrest was not anybody’s prayer point and I would not believe that whatever I went through was emanated by anybody,” Lutterodt stated.</p><p>The arrest followed Lutterodt’s controversial public statements urging Ga youth to take pickaxes to a residence in East Legon and exhume the body of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.</p><p>Police confirmed that he had been detained for allegedly inciting violence and engaging in offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace, citing provisions under the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491).</p><p>Lutterodt had encouraged the youth not to wait for police action, instead telling them to take matters into their own hands.</p>
