<p>Ghana’s most capped player, Andre Ayew, marked his long-awaited return to competitive football after making his debut for NAC Breda in a hard-fought 0-0 draw away at FC Groningen in the Dutch Eredivisie.</p><p>The experienced forward was introduced in the 57th minute of the round 18 encounter at the Euroborg Stadium, replacing French youngster Moussa Soumano, as NAC Breda pushed for a late breakthrough.</p><p>The appearance ended a lengthy spell on the sidelines for Ayew, who had been without competitive action since May 2025.</p><p>Ayew, 36, recently joined the Yellow-Blacks on a short-term contract with an option to extend, following several weeks of training with the squad.</p><p>Despite limited preparation time, the former Ghana captain delivered a respectable showing in his 33-minute cameo, registering 20 touches, one shot, one successful dribble, and winning several ground and aerial duels as he added experience and composure to NAC’s attacking play.</p><p>The match also featured a strong Ghanaian presence, with Ayew sharing the pitch with fellow countrymen Denis Odoi and Kamal Sowah, both of NAC, in a tightly contested encounter.</p><p>The result leaves NAC still battling in the relegation zone, sitting 17th on the Eredivisie table with 14 points after 18 matches.</p><p>They will next turn their attention to a crucial home fixture against NEC Nijmegen at the Rat Verlegh Stadion, where Ayew will be hoping to earn more minutes and possibly a first start.</p><p>The return to action is a significant step for Ayew as he aims to regain full match sharpness and put himself back in contention for a Black Stars call-up ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.</p>
