Daddy Lumba funeral twist: Court tells Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu 'Tupac' to fix fresh burial date

<p>Following the halt of the scheduled funeral, an Accra High Court has instructed Abusuapanyin Kofi Owusu to organise a stakeholder meeting within three weeks to determine a new burial date for the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba.</p><p>While affirming that the family head has the authority to lead funeral preparations, the court held that such authority must be exercised in consultation with the immediate family.</p><p>The funeral of highlife icon Daddy Lumba has been disrupted after an Accra High Court halted the ceremony and ordered that his body remain in custody.</p><p>The court barred Transitions Funeral Home from releasing the body, citing claims that the musician’s immediate family had been excluded from the planning.</p><p>The court also ordered that all funeral funds be separated from the Daddy Lumba Memorial Foundation’s accounts and that an affidavit be filed.</p><p>The dispute stems from tensions between the musician’s maternal relatives and the family head over control of funeral arrangements and fund management following his death on July 26, 2025.</p>
