The United States has officially lifted visa restrictions previously imposed on Ghana, North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has revealed.
The sanctions, which had limited the issuance of visas to some categories of Ghanaian travellers due to disputes over deportee repatriations, have now been reversed — a move the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, describes as a major diplomatic breakthrough that restores normal travel relations between the two countries.
“This good news was directly communicated to me by US Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Allison Hooker at a bilateral meeting earlier today, in the margins of the UN General Assembly,” Mr Ablakwa said in a social media post on Friday night (Sept 26).
”I am really pleased that months of high-level diplomatic negotiations have led to a successful outcome,” he added.
