Facts

Narrating the facts of the case, Chief Inspector Jonas Lawer said on June 11, 2025, the complainants, who are members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), went to the Ablekuma North polling station for the re-run of the parliamentary election.

He said in the course of visiting the polling centres, on reaching the Methodist Church Polling Station, Hawa Koomson and Sanaa were attacked and assaulted by the accused persons.

After they were rescued by the security men at the polling station, the accused persons proceeded to assault Kwei, who was also at the polling centre without any provocation.

The prosecutor said all the complainants were rescued and taken to the Odorkor Police Station and the Regional/CID/AR, where they formally lodged complaints of assault.

“Police medical forms were issued to them, after which they proceeded to the hospital for treatment.

The accused persons were subsequently arrested.

They all denied the allegations in their caution statements.

“After investigations, they were charged with the offences and arraigned before this honourable court,” the prosecutor told the court.
