The Ghana Publishing Company Limited (GPCL) has partnered with MarryRight Ghana Ltd to officially launch Gazette 360, a nationwide public awareness initiative designed to educate Ghanaians on the purpose, use, and importance of the Ghana Gazette. Under the theme “Know It, Use It, and Trust It”, the campaign seeks to empower citizens with knowledge of what the Gazette is, why it matters, and how to access it.
Speaking at the launch, the Managing Director of GPCL, Nana Kwasi Boatey, Esq., warned against the growing menace of fake documents and fraudulent schemes. He revealed that falsifying documents is a criminal offence punishable under Ghanaian law and announced that GPCL has introduced new security features in official publications to curb the circulation of counterfeits.
“The Gazette is the official mouthpiece of the Government of Ghana. It carries the full authority of the law, and only documents published in the Gazette can be regarded as legitimate and binding. Gazette 360 will help the public know where and how to get the Gazette, understand its necessity, and trust it as a credible source of official information,” Nana Boatey said.
Representing MarryRight Ghana Ltd, Barimah Agyemang, Operations Manager, highlighted the company’s longstanding work in marriage governance.
“We have compiled a database of licensed marriage officers, venues, and imams dating as far back as 1905. We understand first-hand the importance of the Gazette, particularly when it comes to publishing the licensing of marriage officers, venues, and imams as mandated by law—and how these directly affect the validity of marriages, both Christian and Muslim,” Mr. Agyemang stated.
He stressed MarryRight’s commitment to working closely with churches, pastors, imams and other institutions to ensure compliance with licensing and gazetting requirements.
“We commend Ghana Publishing Company Limited for this bold and much-needed step. MarryRight stands with GPCL not only for this launch but for all subsequent steps to create nationwide awareness,” he added.
Gazette 360 will be rolled out through nationwide engagements, media partnerships, and educational drives to promote transparency, combat document fraud, and ensure that every Ghanaian knows, uses, and trusts the Ghana Gazette.
