All six remaining victims of last week's helicopter crash will be buried at the Military Cemetery at Tse Addo in Accra after a state funeral service at the Black Star Square on Friday.
At a press briefing in Accra on Thursday, August 14, 2025, Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations at the Office of the President, Mr Stan Dogbe, said the Ghana Armed Forces will conduct the funeral service in three parts: a pre-burial service, the main funeral and burial service, and the interment.
The pre-burial service will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 9 a.m. Tributes will be delivered by family members, colleagues, and institutions, and there will be Quran recitations.
Mr Dogbe said Vice-President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is expected to arrive at 8:50 a.m. followed by President John Dramani Mahama at 9 a.m, after which the state service will begin. The programme is expected to last about three hours.
After the service, the remains of the six victims will be transported to the Burma Camp military cemetery. The Ghana Armed Forces, together with the churches of the deceased, will conduct the burial rites.
Mr Dogbe said buses will be provided to transport the six bereaved families to the cemetery to help manage traffic along the route and within the cemetery.
He urged mourners to follow the instructions of military police officers who will be directing movement and parking.
Air Commodore Thomas Nii Okai of the Ghana Armed Forces said burying six fallen officers at the same time will involve special arrangements to accord them full state honours.
He appealed to the public to comply with directions at both the Black Star Square and the cemetery to maintain order.
