Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s bid for the New Patriotic Party’s flagbearership has received a massive boost, as more than 490 NPP youth organisers from across the country stormed party headquarters to pick his nomination forms.
The unprecedented show of support, party insiders say, signals growing grassroots momentum behind the Vice President’s campaign, with organisers describing him as the unifying choice to lead the NPP into the 2028 elections.
Chanting slogans and waving party colours, the youth vowed to mobilise every corner of the country to secure Bawumia’s victory in the primaries.
Responding to the gesture, Dr. Bawumia thanked them says; “The youth organisers of our party across the length and breadth of our party, 490 out of 552, came to me. The leadership requested that they wanted to put their widows’ mite together and pick my nomination forms for me. I agreed because that was a remarkable vote of confidence in me.
"This morning, they have fulfilled that promise they made and have picked the form from the party’s head office and have delivered it to me. The youth are a major asset of our party and the nation. They represent the future. I want to thank them for this major vote of confidence.
"I’m minded to contest the flagbearership of the NPP. I will make a full declaration in that regard when I go to submit the form you have delivered to me.”
