Hon. Betty Mould-Iddrisu, former Minister for Justice and Attorney General of the Republic of Ghana, and Founder and Life Patron of the African Women Lawyers Association–Ghana, has been announced as the chairperson for the second edition of the Marriage Governance Conference (MGC), set for Tuesday, 19th August 2025, at the Ghana Shippers Authority in Accra.

Organised by MarryRight Ghana Ltd. in partnership with the Office of the Attorney General and the Registrar General’s Department, the MGC has established itself as Ghana’s foremost platform for critical dialogue on marriage law, practice, and policy.

This year’s conference, themed “Legal Love, Recognized Rights: Rethinking Marriage Governance for a Future of Accountability, Digital Inclusion, and Cultural Harmony,” will convene legal professionals, policy-makers, traditional and religious authorities, academics, and the public to deliberate on the evolving legal and social frameworks governing marriage in Ghana.

Hon. Mould-Iddrisu’s role as chair is expected to lend both gravitas and a reform-focused lens to the day’s proceedings, drawing on her extensive experience in legal policy, governance, and women’s rights advocacy.

The 2025 MGC will feature three high-level panel discussions and four expert presentations tackling pressing marriage-related issues, including:

Panel Discussions
1. Who Owns the Dead Body? – Custom, conflict, and the fight for the dead body in Ghana.
2. The Rise of Radio Family Courts – Why the masses chose the mic over the judge.
3. Fake Marriage Documents: New Schemes and Strategies

2. Truth from the Start – Should Ghana Introduce DNA at birth.
3. Mental Health in Marriage and the Law – When vows turn into a battle for sanity.
