Ghana is reeling from a series of recent tragedies, and on August 11, 2025, news broke of the passing of the Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The loss comes shortly after the Asantehene mourned two prominent chiefs and a linguist in Asanteman, marking the death of his only surviving sister and traditional mother.
Awentami Paul Afoko, in a statement, said, "I have been a beneficiary of the great honour bestowed upon me by the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, when he sent a high-level representation to my late father’s funeral in Sandema in the Upper East Region this year.
“I therefore join the queue of the numerous politicians, businessmen and women, the clergy, Traditional Rulers, Imams and Petitioners from all walks of life who have come to recognise what a gem this country has in the Asantehene”
“Nana Otumfuo, me ma wo due, due ne amanehunu. Due Damirifa Due.”
