Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has expressed deep disappointment over what he perceives as being sidelined by his own party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), stressing that age should not be used as grounds for his exclusion.

During a candid moment in a courtesy visit paid to him by NPP presidential hopeful Bryan Acheampong, the former president lamented the party’s apparent disregard for its senior figures, despite their enduring contributions and sacrifices.

“I don’t understand why my own party, the NPP, has sidelined me,” Former President Kufuor said, voicing concern that his insights and experience are no longer being sought in key party decisions.

“Have I declined to the point where I can be dismissed, overlooked? My faculties are intact. I’m no relic. I deserve at least to be consulted,” he asserted.

Kufuor, who led the country from 2001 to 2009, emphasized that respect for elders and institutional memory should not be cast aside, especially by a party he helped shape and grow.
