New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Okaikwei Central, Patrick Yaw Boamah, believes his party's national leadership has become “weak” in recent times and fears that could impact the party's performance in future

Speaking on The Point of View on Channel One TV, he emphasised the need for a strong national chairman who can maintain party unity and intervene when necessary.

This criticism comes amid internal disagreements and tensions following the NPP's defeat in the 2024 general elections.

“We’ve been used to strong chairmen who could correct even the flagbearer or marshal his National Executive Officers to sit the president or the flagbearer down to put in place some arrangement for the betterment of the party,” Mr. Boamah said.

To him, the current national executive has failed the party and must put in place measures to strengthen and unite the party for the next election.

Patrick Yaw Boama, however, seems not happy with the party's decision to hold early primaries to elect a new flagbearer just months after their 2024 election defeat.

The NPP is currently preparing for presidential primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
