Stephen Yankyera Amoh, a technical member of the team that accompanied the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr Johnson Asiama, to Parliament, has assured that all procurement processes for the construction of the new headquarters were duly approved.

He disclosed this when the Governor appeared before Parliament to respond to questions regarding the project.

Addressing Members of Parliament, Mr Amoh stated that the necessary procurement procedures were followed, including obtaining approval from the Public Procurement Authority (PPA).

“Mr Speaker, procurement approvals were sought for all the processes. One was the PPA approval to use the restricted tendering for the selected contractors who were perceived to be suited to build such an edifice,” he explained.

His remarks were intended to address concerns over the transparency of the procurement process, as the project has faced scrutiny over its cost and necessity.

The assurance sought to clarify that the selection of contractors was conducted following due process to ensure the project met the required standards.

The Bank of Ghana’s new headquarters has been a subject of public debate, with many questioning its financial implications.

However, the latest explanation suggests that the project complied with all procurement regulations, reinforcing the Bank’s position that the necessary approvals were secured before construction commenced.
