New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Effiduase/Asokore Nana Ayew Afriye advises former SIC Insurance MD Hollistar Duah-Yentumi to accept her termination and negotiate an exit package.
He believes her legal battle is futile given the political transition and encourages CEOs to respect the political space that appointed them.
Dr Afriye suggests that Duah-Yentumi should accept a payoff from the NDC and make way for the new government.
In a Facebook post on Thursday (6 February), Afriye advised Duah-Yentumi to accept the changes and “relax,” expressing his belief that her legal contest over the termination of her appointment as MD was a futile effort, especially in light of the political transitions in Ghana.
“What was she thinking? That the NDC win the elections and keep her in the post? I honestly don’t know where to place a CEO appointed by the NPP who is holding on to his or her post after your appointing authority has handed over power.”
Afriye encouraged other CEOs to negotiate their exit packages appropriately and make room for the new government to take charge.
“The NDC must and they will pay you off! So my fellow Ghanaian pack, negotiate for all payments due you and leave the space for the NDC to have their field day.
“Next time if any Ghanaian becomes a CEO, respect the political space that made you, your men at work, and the cause of the Ghanaian. The balancing act is on you!” he stated.
On 4 February 2025, Duah-Yentumi filed a lawsuit against SIC Insurance and its newly appointed Managing Director, James Agyenim-Boateng, after President John Dramani Mahama’s announcement of Agyenim-Boateng as her successor.
In her suit, Duah-Yentumi claims that her employment contract guarantees her position until January 2028, unless terminated by the board or shareholders under certain conditions.
