Former Manchester City goalkeeper, Joe Hart has hailed Thomas Partey’s outstanding performance against his former side.
Arsenal hosted the defending champions at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon, and Partey, who played in midfield, was superb for his impressive display, disruption of the opposition, and distribution of passes.
Having broken the deadlock Martin Ødegaard to end the first half 1-0, Manchester City equalised through Erling Haaland before Thomas Partey wrapped up his impressive performance by restoring the lead for the Gunners.
The momentum remained with the Gunners, with Myles Lewis-Skelly extending the advantage in the 62nd minute after being teed up by Declan Rice.
Kai Havertz then got on the scoresheet in the 76th minute, finishing off a well-placed pass from Gabriel Martinelli to make it 4-1. The scoring was wrapped up deep into stoppage time when Ethan Nwaneri connected beautifully with a Declan Rice cross to seal the comprehensive 5-1 triumph.
After the game, Hart, who played for Manchester City from 2006 to 2018 waxed lyrical about the Ghana captain, saying the 30-year-old was excellent against Pep Guardiola’s side.
"Thomas Partey was excellent against Manchester City," the former English international said on Premier League Production.
"He did not stop running in midfield. Partey and Martin Ødegaard controlled the game well especially in the midfield but Partey was excellent," he added.
With the goal against Manchester City, Thomas Partey has now registered three goals and two assists in the Premier League this season.
Partey will hope to guide Arsenal to book a place in the final of the Carabao Cup when they travel to play Newcastle United in the second leg of the semifinals on Wednesday at St. James' after losing the first leg 2-0 at home.
