Minister-Designate for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, advocates for mandatory body cameras for police officers in Ghana to address police misconduct and restore public trust.
He believes body cameras will provide objective evidence in cases of police brutality and extortion.
“We will ensure that if you are a police officer and you have to step out, then you have your body camera on to take away all the ambiguity and the troubles because when you put the body camera on, everywhere you are, you are being recorded.
“So that when you are on the road extorting money and brutalising others, it will show and record whatever the police officer is doing.” Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak said during his vetting by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Friday, January 24.
