Former Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Wilfred Osei Kweku Palmer has insisted that Kwesi Nyantakyi's administration is far better than Kurt Okraku's led administration.
Mr Nyantakyi who served as GFA president from 2005 to 2018 witnessed a lot of successes and he is famously remembered for leading the charge as Black Stars secured their first World Cup qualification in 2006 in Germany.
The Black Stars since then also played at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and played in the quarterfinal for the time. In the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, the senior national team failed to progress from the group phase.
Under the auspices of Nyantakyi, the Black Stars also played at the 2010 and 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals but finished as the runners-up.
The Black Satellites became the first African U-20 side to win the FIFA World Cup in Egypt among other successes.
However, Kurt Okraku's administration has witnessed less success. In the last three major tournaments staged in Cameroon, Qatar and Ivory Coast, the Black Stars have suffered group phase exit.
The woes of the team were deepened after the Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON tournament for the first time in two decades having finished at the bottom of Group F.
Speaking in an interview, Osei Kweku Palmer described Kurt Okraku's led GFA as a failure and insisted that Kwesi Nyantakyi did a better job.
"Kwesi Nyantakyi's administration performed far better than Kurt Okraku's. In terms of strategic thinking, the current football administration does not come close to Kwesi Nyantakyi's administration," he told Asempa FM.
"They have failed everybody and it is disappointing," he added.
Kurt Okraku took over the reins of power in 2019 from the Normalisation Committee after Kwesi Nyantakyi was turfed out following Anas Aremeyaw Anas' investigative piece on alleged corruption.
Despite the lack of success, Mr Okraku has also overseen considerable progress in women’s football, with the Black Queens qualifying for the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for the first time since 2018.
