Reports from Anyinam, a mining community indicate that an illegal miner identified as Nana Kwadwo Ayimadu has been arrested.
The miner who is alleged to be an “NDC top financier” was arrested by a small-scale miners taskforce with support from the Ghana Armed Forces.
Nana Kwadwo Ayimadu is believed to be operating his illegal activities on the Birim, Densu, Akombra, Offin, Pra, Odda and Ayensu rivers with migrants from neighbouring countries.
According to the General Secretary of the Small-Scale Miners Association, the suspect leads a huge kabal that distributes these foreigners on the river bodies.
