Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is confident his team deserved a better outcome against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday during their round three 2025 AFCON qualifier.

Despite creating numerous scoring opportunities, Ghana settled for a frustrating goalless draw against Kwesi Appiah’s side. This result leaves the hopes of the four-time African champions for qualifying for the tournament hanging in the balance.

In his post-match press conference, Addo reflected on the missed chances: “The chances were there. A lot of chances, but this is football. Sometimes, it is very, very hard for us. So now it pains even more. The Niger game pains even more, and also the last-minute goal against Angola pains even more.

“Today, again, we did well, and there's not much I can say except for the result, and this is the most important thing in football. It's not correct.

“I think we deserved to win, but we didn't. But, we will stay positive, and we will beat them away with the same performance, passion, and creativity up front.”

The Black Stars, with just two points, currently sit third in Group F of the qualifiers for the Morocco tournament scheduled for next year.

Sudan, meanwhile, occupies second place in the group with four points, two behind leaders Angola, who have played two games.

Looking ahead, Ghana will wrap up their October international break with an away match against Sudan in Libya on Tuesday.
