Black Stars are set to welcome back defender Alexander Djiku for their critical 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying double-header against Sudan.
Djiku, who missed the previous qualifiers due to fitness concerns, has now returned to full fitness, playing in three of Fenerbahce’s last four games.
His return comes at a crucial time, as Ghana look to bounce back from a disappointing start in the qualifiers.
In Djiku’s absence, the Black Stars' defence struggled, conceding two late goals in their matches against Angola and Niger, resulting in a loss and a draw.
Ghana have picked up just one point from two games, and they are currently third in their group, needing two wins against Sudan to revive their AFCON qualification hopes.
Djiku, who has been a key figure for Ghana with two goals in 29 appearances, was instrumental in the Black Stars' World Cup qualifying campaign, particularly in wins over Mali and Central African Republic.
His defensive stability, highlighted by three clean sheets in four league games this season under manager Jose Mourinho, will be a massive boost as Ghana prepares for these must-win encounters.
The Black Stars are expected to begin training at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, with coach Otto Addo set to announce his squad on Friday.
The matches against Sudan will take place on October 11 at the Accra Sports Stadium and October 14 in Libya.
