Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh has called out former President John Dramani Mahama for labelling Clergy, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and traditional leaders as "hypocrites" for praying for the NPP and their leaders.

Speaking at a campaign rally at Ofoase in Juaben Constituency, he expressed concerns over Mahama’s rhetoric, stating such statements undermine the dignity of the office he (Mahama) previously held.

Speaking during another phase of NPP campaign tour, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh underscored the key role that the traditional and religious authorities play in preserving the unity and moral fabric of Ghana.

He described these authorities as being crucial factors to fostering unity and development in the country, therefore, stressed they should be accorded much respect.

Further reacting to Mahama's disparaging remarks, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly called "NAPO", urged the traditional leaders, Imams and Clergy not to support John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming elections.

He seized the moment to also tout the achievements of the NPP, asserting they have outperformed the previous administration and affirmed the record of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government across all sectors is unmatched.

"We will continue to communicate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's plans to further improve the lives of the people with bold solutions", he emphasized.

Furthermore, he pointed out that the NPP has communicated their achievements devoid of insults nor namecalling, hence urged the public to vote them into power on Dec 7.

He added that the leadership of his party exhibits humility and respect for the religious and traditional leaders, unlike Ex-President Mahama and the NDC.

Dr. Opoku Prempeh, as a part of his tour, also visited Kumawu and Oyoko in the Kumawu Constituency and interacted with the Chiefs and religious leaders as well as students in the communities.

During his visit, the Kumawumanhene, Barima Sarfo Tweneboah Kodua expressed excitement over the appointment of Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh as Running Mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, NPP flagbearer.

The Chief praised the NPP for their numerous developmental projects in the area, among them he mentioned are an ultramodern hospital and better roads.

Present during the occasion was Member of Parliament for Kumawu, Hon. Ernest Yaw Kumi, who, on his part, thanked the Chiefs for their warm reception and requested their prayers to effectively carry on with his work.
