An alarming video circulating shows some angry traditional leaders believed to be from the Bono East region sending a threatening caution to indigenous ahead of the December 7, general elections.
The leaders expressed their frustration against the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr John Dramani Mahama for disrespecting them after hours of waiting to meet him.
In the widely circulated video, the chief of the town named in the video as Nana Danso Abiam was heard saying Mr Mahama's neglect would be paid for if any indigene from his town voted for the NDC.
“We have been waiting for John Mahama from morning till evening. Anytime he will be here for a rally, Papa Kwesi akura, Twemu Kramo these gods will kill whoever will vote for the NDC and Mahama. The NDC is not showing any respect to the chiefs and people of Bono East." One elderly said.
Another leader also lamented, “They [NDC] said they would be here at 1 pm, but they didn't show up, they again said 6 pm and still didn't show up. He [Mahama] came to a nearby town to campaign and left. He can't disrespect us in such a manner.”
“Just as the chief said, no NDC member will vote in this town. failure to do so, you will be struck by the gods of our land.” He added.
A linguist to the chief also said “Mahama had already said Ghanaians have short memories, so he will disrespect us knowing we will forget. But this time, we won't. The gods of the land will deal with anyone who will vote for him and his party.”
