Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the NPP, on Thursday, August 15, 2024, began his nationwide campaign tour, dubbed, constituency-focused campaign, in the Ashanti Region, the ‘political world bank’ of the party, where he is expected to tour all the 47 constituencies in the region to energize the party’s base and rally support for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the December polls.

On Thursday, the Running Mate’s team, which included Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong (Member of Parliament, Assin Central), Danquah Smith (1st National Vice Chairman of the Party), Lawyer Henry Nana Boakye (National Organizer), Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Ashanti Regional Chairman) and host of others visited 3 constituencies, being Asante Akyem, Asante Akyem Central and Bosome Freho constituencies.

Napo, as he is affectionately called, and his team were given a rousing reception in these constituencies as thousands of party supporters and members of the general public came out in their numbers to listen to Dr Bawumia’s Running Mate and his entourage at various campaign rallies, durbar of chiefs, and meetings with religious and traditional authorities.

In his various addresses, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh reminded the people of the record of the NPP government particularly in the areas of education, health, industrialization and job creation, which he said, was unbeatable in the history of the country. He therefore called on them to continue to put their trust in the NPP and vote massively for the party’s presidential candidate on December 7 to make it possible for the party to achieve its 85% vote target.

Dr. Prempeh called on the people of the Ashanti Region and Ghanaians, in general, to rally behind the vision of his boss, Dr. Bawumia, which vision includes creating a prosperous Ghana driven by political and religious tolerance, sustainable jobs, the industrial revolution, and harmonious co-existence. He used the occasion to raise the hands of the various parliamentary candidates of the party before their constituents and asked them to vote massively for them.

Speaker after speaker including Hon. Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Chairman Wontumi, Hon. Nana Afriyie Ayew and many others, took turns to make a case for the people of Ashanti Region and Ghanaians in general to repose their confidence in Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and the NPP as the surest way of securing their future and their children’s future.
