Members of the opposition National Democratic Congress at Barekese, in the Atwima Nwabiagya North constituency confirmed public held perception of deep cracks within the opposition party, as they joined the NPP Regional chairman to campaign for the NPP.

In a show of open defiance of party orders, the NDC members in their numbers took to the streets of Barekese, the capital of the Atwima Nwabiagya North, to campaign, sharing the same platform, much to the dismay of their leaders who stood helplessly.

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, this morning touched base with the party at the constituency level, with the Atwima Nwabiagya North constituency being the first to be visited as part of a regional tour.

At the heart of Barekese township, the NDC members, who had gathered in front of their campaign office and dawning their party colours instantly mobbed the NPP Regional chairman and his entourage who were engaging the people in the Barekese town.

Livid by the sight of the event, the NDC leadership who were present at the office tried to discourage its members from jumping on the campaign train of their rival, but the adamant members had already found their way and chanted to the various NPP campaign songs.

It remains, therefore, to see the fate of those NDC members by their leadership, but the ecstatic NDC supporters seemed not worried, rather they were seen at various lorry stations, homes of constituents doing the bidding of the NPP together with the chairman Wuntumi.

The party chairman, affectionately called Chairman Wontumi, is on a mission to revitalise the party base and restore hope and confidence among NPP members and the general electorates.

At the constituency, the Regional chairman will first hold meetings with the leadership of the party in the constituency, including the current Member of Parliament, Parliament Candidate, DCE, Electoral Area Coordinators, and Assembly members among others.

He will later inspect ongoing road projects in the constituency, and embark on door-to-door to interact with the core of the electorates.
