On a significant day for institutional collaboration, the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA) team, led by their Rector, Prof. Samuel Kwaku Bonsu, paid a courtesy call to the Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Mr. John Boadu, and his team.
The purpose of the visit was to explore avenues for a strategic partnership between the two entities.
During the meeting, discussions centred on how SIGA could leverage GIMPA's expertise in various areas, particularly in the realm of State Entities Performance Contract negotiations.
Mr. John Boadu highlighted the importance of involving GIMPA in these negotiations, recognizing the institute's potential to contribute significantly to enhancing the performance and governance of state entities.
Furthermore, Mr. Boadu proposed that GIMPA research evaluate the original objectives behind the establishment of various state entities and assess their current relevance. This suggestion aligns with the broader goal of ensuring that state entities continue to fulfil their intended purposes effectively in today's context.
Prof. Bonsu, reflecting on GIMPA's foundational mission, agreed wholeheartedly with Mr. Boadu's suggestion. He reaffirmed that GIMPA was established to provide essential services to the government, including research, training, and consultancy. Prof. Bonsu expressed GIMPA's readiness to partner with SIGA across various fields and to support its initiatives.
Mr. Stephen Asiedu, the Acting General Manager of Operations at SIGA, extended his gratitude to Prof. Bonsu and his team for their visit and the productive discussions. He assured them that SIGA is committed to formalizing the collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
This MOU will specifically target areas such as the preparation of State Ownership Reports, Performance Contract Negotiations, and other strategic functions where GIMPA's expertise can be invaluable.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both institutions looking forward to a fruitful partnership that will enhance the governance and performance of state entities in Ghana.
