Centre for Democratic Development threatens legal action if President Akufo-Addo assents LGBTQ+ Bill

The Centre for Democratic Development (CDD) Ghana says they will seek legal action if the Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill is assented to by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

The Board Chair for CDD, Professor Audrey Gadzepko says the passage Anti-LGBTQ+ Bill by parliament is disappointing and an attempt to violate human rights in an interview with Accra-based 3FM.

The bill if approved to be law will prohibit lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) activities and criminalise their promotion, advocacy, and funding in the country.

Offenders if found guilty will face three yea the bill.rs minimum and five years of maximum imprisonment.

The punishment according to Prof. Gadzepko is inhumane and called on President Akufo-Addo who has been a human rights lawyer for years to rethink before making his final decision.
