Election 2024: Police investigate ‘guns, machetes’ to protect ballot comment by NDC’s deputy Gen. Sec

Ghana police say they have commenced an investigation into a dreadful comment made by the Deputy General Secretary of the largest opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). 

Mr Mustafa Gbande was reported to have said in an interview on OKAY FM that – his party members must be prepared to protect their ballot in the upcoming 2024 general election. 

He urged them to do so by carrying guns, machetes or anything deadly weapon to their various polling stations. 

His party is yet to disassociate itself from what many have described as a ‘reckless’ approach in their party bid to win the next election. 

However, the police in a statement said they would investigate Mustafa Gbandi and take legal action. 

“We wish to assure the public that under our watch no one will be allowed to undermine the peace, security, law and order in our beloved country.” A portion of their statement said.

POLICE INVESTIGATE INCITEFUL COMMENTS ATTRIBUTED TO ONE MR MUSTAFA GBANDI

The attention of the Police has been drawn to a statement allegedly made by one Mr. Mustafa Gbandi on OkayFM, an Accra based radio station which seeks to incite violence during the 2024 general elections.

Police have commenced investigations into the matter in line with the laws and democratic values of the country.

The Police will continue to work with other sister security agencies diligently and patriotically to
