Yagbonwura Biikunuto Soale Jewu, President of the Savannah Regional House of Chiefs and King of the Gonja Kingdom, bestowed the title of Konikoŋle Wura of the Savannah Region upon Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Tuesday, November 21, 2023.
Dr Bawumia is in the Savannah Region to thank the Overlord for his blessings and support before and during the NPP presidential primaries held earlier this month which saw him emerge as the flagbearer of the party.
During his visit, Dr. Bawumia expressed appreciation for the Yagbonwura’s continuous blessings, recalling their longstanding relationship that began when he was the Tulwewura.
The Veep highlighted the Yagbonwura’s influential role in breaking barriers, dispelling misconceptions that a northerner couldn’t lead the NPP.
Dr. Bawumia credited the overlord’s prayers and support for his success, predicting that he would be inaugurated as Ghana’s President in January 2025.
As a gesture of gratitude, Dr. Bawumia pledged to renovate the Jakpa Palace, emphasizing his commitment to regional development and expressing his deep connection to the land.
The MP for Damongo, Samuel Abu Jinapor who also doubles as the Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, affirmed Dr. Bawumia’s dedication to non-discriminative development.
He assured the Yagbonwura and the people of the Savannah Region that, as President, Dr. Bawumia would prioritize the region’s development. He called on the people to rally behind Dr. Bawumia and vote overwhelmingly for him in the upcoming elections.
