A group named the Ashanti Coordinators has in a statement cautioned flagbearer aspirant of the NPP Kennedy Agyapong to “be careful” about the modus operandi of their regional chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako aka ‘Chairman Wontumi’.
The group said some allegations made by Mr. Agyapong about their regional chairman are nothing but false and attempt to discredit his works for the NPP.
They have also vowed to support Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in his mid to lead the NPP in the next presidential election.

We the Electoral Area Coordinators of the New Patriotic Party in the Ashanti Region would want to make it clear to the public that, contrary to the misleading and erroneous claims by the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, we have not been intimidated in anyway to support or work for the Vice President’s presidential bid. Perhaps it’s in the Central region that electoral area coordinators are being intimidated to support and vote for Hon. Ken Agyapong, as it was recently in the news that the Assin central constituency chairman has invoked curses on his delegates threatening them against voting against Hon. Kennedy Agyapong.
Indeed, we have even advised our regional chairman, the indefatigable Bernard Antwi Boasiako, a.k.a Chairman Wontumi, not to respond to your tirade of attacks and empty threats. As you know it yourself, our Regional Chairman doesn’t dare nor throw about empty threats. He just goes ahead to take action. Even at your own backyard during the by-election recently, he confronted and overpowered the NDC thugs while they were opening fire at him.
Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, we respect you a lot, at least by virtue of the fact that you are a Member of Parliament and senior member of our party, however, we won’t entertain such attacks on our regional chairman anymore.
Just focus on your campaign, particularly your campaign message which falls short with respect to the wellbeing of the common Ghanaian. You always talk about empowering the polling station officers of our party, forgetting that once you become the leader of the country, you would be enjoined by law to serve the entire people in the country and not only the party members. There are even some loyal and committed members of our party who are not delegates or polling station executives whose interest must also be captured in your message but you have ignored all of them. Even during the ongoing Limited Registration Exercise, most of the people helping us to get people to register aren’t polling station executives or registered members of our party. We believe you would focus on getting a better campaign message, and stop the needless attacks on people.
Signed
