The seemingly rivalry between dancehall artistes, Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy has been rekindled following a misunderstanding over the booking of Accra Sports Stadium for their respective shows this December.
It is recalled that in early September, Shatta Wale announced December 25 for his Freedom Wave Concert. In a flier posted on social media, it mentioned a number of events which will kick off on Wednesday, December 20 and climax on December 25.
However, earlier this week, Stonebwoy also announced that his yearly Bhim concert will hold at the Accra Sports Stadium on December.
Perhaps, not too happy with the turn of events, the Kakai hitmaker took to social media to vent his frustrations at the new development and to similarly call out Stonebwoy and his team for trying to sabotage his show with Medikal, which has been holding at the Accra Sports stadium in the last two years.
In a Facebook Live video on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, the Kakai hitmaker insinuated that the authorities of the stadium had been influenced to permit Stonebwoy’s concert to hold three days before his with rapper Medikal.
He indicated that he cannot use less than three days to do a good set up at the stadium since the authorities had previously told his team that it took three days to get a good production set up for a concert at the stadium.
And so was quite confused at the decision of this same stadium authorities granting Stonebwoy the permission to host his concert on December 22.
“You told my team that to do a show at the stadium one needs three days to set up. So if you are doing your show on 25th, you need three says ahead to set up – 22nd, 23rd, 24th. That is what you told my team.
“He [Stonebwoy] could have done his maybe 10th December, or any other day in December. Why eat into our time. Why? And the Professor said they will look into it,” he stated.
However, in a report by myjoyonline.com, it stated that Professor Peter Twumasi, the Director General of the National Sports Authority disclosed that they had several meetings with both parties and they agreed to their conditions.
“We met with his team and agreed on these conditions. They’re okay. 25th December booked for Shatta, 22nd for Stone, and others have different dates in December,” he stated.
He also indicated that the authority had not prevented either party from holding their respective concerts.
Stonebwoy’s offer
In the same report, it also mentioned that Chief Abiola, the road manager of Stonebwoy had assured in an interview with Hitz FM that their team was ready to collaborate with Shatta Wale with regards to some logistics to ease the labour on setting up for the Freedom Wave Concert but Shatta Wale rejected the offer.
“I got feedback from Sammy Flex that Shatta Wale was not happy with the timing so we should push for more time for them to set up. So I also took it back to my team, had a back and forth with them.
“We decided to shift the date from 23rd to 22nd which was giving Shatta’s team two or three days clear before their event, so it was enough time for them to do whatever set up they want to do,” he is quoted to have said.
Interestingly, Professor Peter Twumasi had mentioned in an interview with spectator online that the legal department of his outfit was yet to sign a contract with both Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy.
