Information reaching our News desk indicates that the majority of NPP delegates at Odotobri constituency in the Amansie Central district of Ashanti region boycotted the ongoing cluster or constituency durbar meeting by Alan John Kwadwo Kyeremanten, one of the Flagbearer hopefuls as part of his tour to Ashanti region.
According to the source, out of 740 delegates, only 49 attended the Bekwai zonal meeting on 8th August 2023. Held at Bekwai Church of Pentecost auditorium
The simple reason given by a number of delegates who boycotted the meeting said already their Member of Parliament (MP), Hon Emmanuel Akwasi Gyamfi and the Constituency Chairman, Mr Dominic Bosompem aka Dompeace, as well as the majority of them, have endorsed Dr Mahamudu Bawumia's candidature ahead of the party's primaries.
The leadership of the Constituency and Electoral area coordinators also says they were not consulted for the organization of the meeting.
Moreover, they didn't want to waste their precious time for the meeting because they have already declared their unflinching support to Dr Bawumia.
The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) is set to hold the Super Delegates conference on 26th August 2023 and the main Delegates conference on 4th November 2023 respectively for the selection of a Flagbearer for the 2024 general elections.
