English Premier League side Brighton and Hove Albion have agreed a £35 million fee with Ajax for Mohammed Kudus.

Talks are ongoing for the Ghana international who has been a target for Brighton all summer but has also had interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.

The 23-year-old, who can play behind the striker or as a winger, had told Ajax he did not wish to sign a new contract and decided a move this summer would be best for all parties.

The Seagulls are hoping to finalise details over the coming days.

Kudus, who started his career with Danish side Nordsjælland before moving to Ajax, had an impressive return of 11 goals and three assists in the Dutch Eredivise last year.

However, it was the youngster's performances in Qatar last year -- during the World Cup -- that really drew attention to the Ghana midfielder.

The 23-year-old scored two goals for the Black Stars during their three Group Stage matches, before Ghana were eventually sent home.

Previous reports had suggested that Kudus had been a target for west London side Chelsea, who were looking to bolster their attacking options.

It's likely that his arrival coincides with the departure of Alexis Mac Allister earlier in the transfer window, who secured a lucrative move to Liverpool.

Kudus was snapped up by Ajax in 2020 for £8m after impressing during his time at former club FC Nordsjaelland.

In three years with the Dutch giants, the midfielder has managed to record 23 goals from 84 games and has won two Eredivisie titles.

If the deal goes through Kudus will join his Ghana teammate Tariq Lamptey at the English side.
