Despite heavy rains that many seek to safe shelter, Vice President Dr Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia and some NPP executives walked in to commission an Astroturf in Assin North.

The vice president who has been tipped to lead the NPP in the next presidential election had a warm pleasantry with the footballers and spread a message of encouragement to them.

“Give it your best," instilling a sense of determination in the athletes.

This was captured in a video widely circulating on social media with many commending the vice president for this braved walk.

The commissioning of the Astroturf holds significant importance as the Assin North constituency prepares for a highly anticipated by-election on June 27.

This electoral event follows a Supreme Court ruling that declared the election of James Gyakye Quayson as Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin North unconstitutional.
