Lawyer Abraham Amaliba a private legal practitioner, and member of the communication and legal teams of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) says that Attorney General (AG) Godfred Dame has proven that he is much interested in ‘frustrating’ James Gyakye Quayson to benefit his boss, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP ahead of the Assin North by-election is scheduled for June 27, 2023.

According to him, the NDC is undaunted by his political witch-hunting whatsoever.

His comment follows claims by the Attorney General in Gyakye Qauyson’s ongoing criminal trial that the former MP's lawyers were introducing "extraneous" political matters, stating, "He is saying the accused is involved in a national assignment." Mr Dame questioned, "Who gave him a national assignment?"

He further asserted, "It is a selfish quest to contest in this election knowing very well that there is a criminal case pending against him."

The AG added, "The Supreme Court has declared your election unconstitutional, and you know that he is facing a criminal prosecution and he could be convicted and jailed."

But lawyer Amaliba in an interview with NEAT FM’s morning show, Ghana Montie said the AG should channel his energy to individuals who have swindled the state and the public.

“There is Afoko, there is Opuni, Ato Forson is also there and NAM 1, he should channel that same energy there just like he is doing to Mr Quayson. This is just a deliberate attempt to frustrate him.” He told host Kwesi Aboagye.
