The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, will attend the coronation of King Charles III and the Queen Consort in London on Saturday 6 May 2023.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu and Lady Julia will join monarchs, other prominent royalty as well as civic and political leaders from across the globe who will assemble at Westminster Abbey for what is expected to be a feast of pageantry.
The ceremony will mark the first coronation in the United Kingdom in over 70 years.
A statement issued by the press office of Manhyia Palace in Kumasi said that Otumfuo and Lady Julia will be received by King Charles on 4 May 2023 at a private audience at Buckingham Palace to precede the coronation.
The Asantehene, one of Ghana’s most powerful traditional leaders, will also attend the king’s official reception for overseas guests on 5 May 2023.
