The Member of Parliament for North Tongu, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa says the central bank of Ghana, Bank of Ghana has supported the government by illegally printing money to finance the government's projects and expenditures.

According to him, the Nana Addo-led government has been ‘reckless’ in spending throughout the outbreak of COVID-19 despite support from International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.

He maintained that the pandemic and the Russian invasion of Ukraine have exposed the Nana Addo-led government “big time”.

“Despite all the support from IMF, World Bank and WHO, they even go for money from the Bank of Ghana. And Bank of Ghana on our blind side printed GHC 55 billion to support.”

“It’s unfortunate for them to tell us that COVID-19 is the cause of Ghana's ailing economy. Why don’t they tell us about this side? It's deliberate from them [Nana Addo’s government].

“Ghana had a lot of money from donors during COVID, so how did they use the money?” he questioned on NEAT FM’s morning show, Ghana Montie.

Adding that, “Yes COVID was a challenge but it came with a lot of advantages.”
