Lawyers for Charles Nii Armah Mensah, aka Shatta Wale and Lawrence Asiamah Hanson, also known as Bulldog have commenced negotiations to settle a defamation suit filed by the latter out of Court.
While the case was called yesterday, counsel for Bulldog, Dr Justice Srem-Sai, informed the Court that his client had not been able to file the necessary documents because the parties had begun negotiations to settle the matter.
“The case is subject to settlement.
“We wish to pray for one more adjournment to attempt a settlement and depending on the outcome we may apply formally for an extension of time to file our witness statement,” Counsel prayed the Court presided over by Justice Joseph Adu Agyemang Owusu.
The case has been adjourned to April 18, 2023.
Defamation suit
Bulldog filed the lawsuit at an Accra High Court against Wale for defamation.
According to court documents, the suit is a result of Shatta’s recent allegations that Bulldog is in the know about the death of Kwaw Kese’s manager, Fennec Okyere who was murdered in 2014.
The writ was filed on Monday, November 7, 2022, and it captures Bulldog’s plea to the Court to order Shatta Wale to retract his “defamatory” statements and apologise unreservedly for seven consecutive days.
Bulldog also wants general, special and punitive damages slapped Shatta Wale born Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr “for the malicious publication of falsehood against the Plaintiff”.
