Mr. Samuel Awuku, former Director-General of the National Lottery Association (NLA) of Ghana, has been featured in the latest edition of Public Gaming International Magazine.

The magazine, published by the Public Gaming Research Institute (PGRI), is a globally respected publication dedicated to advancing and sustaining government-sponsored gaming organisations.

Issued six times annually, it provides insightful editorials, industry analyses, and interviews with key leaders in the gaming sector.

In this edition, themed "Engaging Our Political Stakeholders in the Mission to Support the Lottery and Serve Society," Mr. Awuku, widely known as Sammi Awuku in political circles, shared his evolving perspective on the lottery’s broader societal impact.

“I have become quite passionate about issues concerning the lottery,” he noted. “The lottery channels tremendous economic benefits to our country, funding programs that might not otherwise receive support. The NLA contributes to the Consolidated Fund, which supports housing, health, and education.”

Mr. Awuku emphasized that his current role positions him to advocate more strategically for impactful reforms. “One of the reforms I intend to champion as a Member of Parliament is for the government to prioritize and direct the NLA to support targeted projects in critical sectors such as health, education, and youth development,” he stated. He further proposed allocating funds to social interventions benefiting persons with disabilities, the elderly, and marginalized communities, or integrating them into the District Assemblies Common Fund to support MPs in executing development initiatives with clear financial goals.

“Although I no longer serve as Director-General of the NLA,” Mr. Awuku concluded, “I am now in an even better position to help shape public policy and ensure that lottery proceeds are leveraged more effectively for national development.”
